Should I stay or should I go?

October 15, 2011  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: General

Recently, I’ve been thinking about my current job. I’ve been on the exact same position for more than three years and even though I work hard and I obviously contribute to the company, no one has recognised this and no one has made even the slightest effort to give me something back as an appreciation of my hard work. In fact my base salary haven’t changed one bit for these three years. But everything is more expensive nowadays. I have to pay more tax, food, rent, gas and what not is getting more and more expensive every day. I know that there are lots of unemployed people out there who will kill for my position, but I definitely know that I can do better.

Do we do enough to help shy people?

August 22, 2011  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: General

If you ask me, shy people really get a raw deal of it. While extroverts rule the TV and are better at making friends, introverts often have trouble with the smallest of social occasions: in other words, life can be very awkward and difficult if you are of this persuasion, and to make matters worse the difficulties are present in every walk of life.

While the extrovert will be at home anywhere – in a seething festival crowd or at a more intimate occasion – the introvert may get nervous while just working with a few people on loft conversions , or when out in town surrounded by a small crowd. This is something which you can’t just flick a switch to change. It can affect you at any time, too, so really…what is the answer?

The answer, to my mind, is to start helping shy people at a younger age – after all, our culture is geared towards the outgoing, and often neglects those with social difficulties. Perhaps if we started helping children see that shyness wasn’t a bad thing, we would be getting somewhere. Because actually, in many ways shyness is a virtue that many extroverts would do well to follow.

here’s a trace of the old shy her there but generally speaking she’s a new person

When I was growing up, I had an exceedingly shy friend – a friend so painfully shy that it was impossible for most children – including me sometimes, I hate to confess – not to point and laugh. And, funnily enough, she now converts lofts for a living, which is why I used that example before.

Anyway, the point is that she did grow out of it, but I’m sure it was largely due to the help of the local youth group. Often I think about what would have happened if she hadn’t had this amazing opportunity (the people who ran the youth group were later featured on TV for their work) and had been instead left to fend for herself in a world of extroverts. While I’m sure she would have got over it eventually, she definitely wouldn’t have achieved it in the same time-scale on her own.

Now I speak to my friend – the phone in the crook of her neck while she’s refurbishing some ancient loft in the countryside – and she is happy. There’s a trace of the old shy her there but generally speaking she’s a new person.

And that, really, is what we need to bring to the new generation of shy children. If we do that then they can have a future as bright as anyone else’s.

Coastal Erosion: Is There An Answer?

August 02, 2011  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: General

The coast of England: beautiful, unspoilt, stunning and lucid as the Sun sets…

But when the Sun rises, the unspoilt views and miles of untouched beauty reveal something frightening. Something which, in fact, is evident and unavoidable to anyone who lives right by the sea.

This is coastal erosion.

Take this scenario.

You come into some money – or perhaps you’re looking to sell up and invest in a new property with views that will make your retirement all the better…

what do other home-owners in the area have to say about it?

But there’s just one problem…five years in, you’re looking at a cliff crumbling away into the sea and hearing that dreaded sound of rocks — YOUR ROCKS — tumbling away forever, never to be seen again…the worst part? Nobody can help you keep it from doing so. Conservation rules and regulations state that nothing can and should be done, as this is nature.

And you thought you’d brought a property goldmine…

So, when taking into account the needs of those with properties, and nature, what is the answer?

First you need to think about where you’re looking to buy. It might seem perfectly untouched right now, but what do other home-owners in the area have to say about it? You can tell a lot just by asking around.

Also consider the footfall. Some people who buy properties close to a cliff edge realise a little too late that their property has a pedestrian by-way located by the cliffs'worse, that the route comes under increased usage during the heaviest times of the Summer — those times when you want to be out in your secluded spot, well away from tourists and others. This increased traffic increases coastal erosion, making your site into a potential nightmare. It may not happen overnight, but rest assured that the results will happen sooner than expected, producing effects which cannot be put right with any amount of money…

Most of all, consider this: do I really want to live right by the sea? Do I really want the hassle of having to battle against age-old law and order? If the answer is Yes, go ahead, and be prepared to do your research. If the answer is No then perhaps you should consider buying into a dream which would suit anyone – be you a red diesel suppliers worker looking for some fresh air or someone looking towards the coast for a way to start a brand-new business.

You Can’t Win

It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, if your job entails using human resources software or being a fireman — a new report out today suggests that no matter what you do, you will offend women.

The study, led by a group of academics who, in my opinion, don’t even deserve to be mentioned by name – and thus they aren’t – concluded that chivalry is actually benevolent sexism. Yes! Which means that basically, all men should stay indoors Read more…

Probably the worse reason in the world to have a child is to cheer yourself up. What do you do when you are surrounded by people who are trying to save themselves and their relationships by continuing to breed? You can’t get an antivirus that protects you from it (or maybe you can, its called a condom) so what do you do? I have noticed that some people seem only happy and fulfilled when they are caring for a small Read more…

Make the dark days work for you

Depression is a pretty awful illness. If you suffer from it, then you’ll understand what I mean, and you’re probably also wondering how I’m possibly going to put a positive spin on it.
The fact is, that for some people there is no positive spin. Depression will eat away at your happiness and your confidence unless you get the help and support you need. Trying to tell that kinds of person that depression can have a positive side is like Read more…

Having said that buying a caravan is not simple; there are a few factors, which if considered properly, can Read more…
