When I was a kid I thought that Knight Rider was the coolest programme on TV. I used to really look forward to the weekly adventures of Michael Knight and his computerised car, KITT (‘Knight Industries Two Thousand’ if I remember correctly…).
Seeing this forum made me smile because I have been wondering what the new version is like as well. Have they changed anything? Who is it that has taken over from David Hasselhoff as the show’s star? To be honest, I haven’t even seen the new car that is mentioned by someone in this forum!
The only thing that I do know anything about is the new theme music. They played it on the radio a few weeks ago (along with the original music) and asked listeners to call in and say what they thought to it. Personally, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The theme to Knight Rider was always pretty cool and Busta Rhymes ‘Fire/Turn It Up’ made brilliant use of it. The new version is almost Gothic. They have changed it into this kind of awesome super-powerful Darkwave track. It sounds great, but does it fit in okay with everything else?
What the actual show has been turned into is anyone’s guess. No-one that I know has seen it and I haven’t got round to looking it up on the internet yet… You might say that programme makers must be running low on ideas if they are revamping things from the eighties, but if it worked so well back then; why not now?
So, what else is there to look forward to? Will they be modernising Street Hawk, Air Wolf and The A Team next? Surely not… But you never know. Watch this space.
