The Downfall Of ‘Bully-Buster’.

Why it is that some people are bullies? Maybe they were picked-on themselves or is it simply because they are not very nice people?
Bullying has always gone on to a certain degree and it probably always will. The most popular territory for it is at school or in the workplace, but it can basically take place anywhere.
When I walked into town last night I saw a kid being picked-on in the market place. He wasn’t very tall and about six other lads (all bigger) were pushing him around; I should think they were all about thirteen or fourteen. Because I have been a victim of bullying in the past, it always makes me really angry to see someone else going through it.
I then did something pretty stupid; I walked over to them all and tried to break it up. I say this is stupid because you never quite know who is carrying a blade these days. Younger kids than this have been arrested for stabbing someone. Unfortunately I have a tendency to just wade into a situation like this without thinking. A dumb habit, but there you go.
My intervention did not go down very well. I didn’t get stabbed, but I did get the obligatory mouthful of abuse. I asked the lads if they thought it was fair to all gang up on someone much smaller. And then, logic flew out the window…
The ‘victim’ turned to me and told me to go away (not his exact words you understand). ‘What the hell has this got to do with you?’ He demanded. I suppose he was just trying to look tough, but I stood there totally perplexed. I had gone over to try and help this kid and now he was telling me to get lost!
I felt like telling them to get on with it and to give him a good clout from me. But I thought better of it and just walked away.
There is a moral to this story somewhere and as soon as I know what it is I’ll let you know.
One last thing I need outside advice on; I have just updated the copy on the homepage for kerosene suppliers, I know that it may surprise you that I am working for an oil company; but I don’t think they are as un-green as I once concluded. Plus, I’ve sold out, I need the compensation!
